Larry Dale Pate

Our sweet Pappy, Larry Dale Pate, just a few months shy of his 84th birthday passed away on April 8, 2025, in Vian, Oklahoma leaving behind a long, full and God honoring legacy that will live on through the countless lives he touched.

He was born on July 16, 1941, in Searcy, Arkansas to Ester (Lindsey) Pate and Arnold Oliver Pate. Larry was the definition of a self-made man - a "jack-of-all-trades". He was an electrician, plumber, welder, mechanic and construction worker, all self-taught, with an incredible work ethic and a heart to serve others. There was nothing he couldn't fix, build or figure out, and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need. 

He was a proud father of seven children, Steve, Sandy, Johnny, Becky, Cheryl, Pam and the baby of the family, Mar whom he lovingly called "his favorite". Larry's legacy continues through his many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as his large extended family who all loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Steve Pate and Johnny Pate; one daughter, Sandy Pate; and several siblings.

One of his greatest joys in life was watching his granddaughter Jazlynn and grandson Jaxon grow up right before his eyes. He was incredibly proud of Jazlynn's journey at OBU. In his final stage of life, he was lovingly cared for by both Jazy and Jax. Because of their love for their Pappy, those final days were filled with precious moments and cherished memories which brought him great peace and happiness.

Larry Dale Pate was a man of faith, strength and heart. He worked hard, loved deeply and lived fully. His presence, wisdom and unwavering love will be missed more than words can convey, but his legacy will continue to shine through the family and friends who were blessed to know him, be served by him and loved by him.

Cremation is under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc. in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
