Laverne (Dobbs) Smith

Funeral service for LaVerne (Dobbs) Smith, 85 of Fort Smith, Arkansas will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, October 25, 2022 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Akins Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on October 12, 1937 in Akins community, Oklahoma to Callie Jane (England) Dobbs and Clarence Dobbs and passed away on October 19, 2022 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was married to Alvin Edward Smith on November 6, 1967 in Stigler, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on January 6, 2018. Mrs. Smith was housekeeping supervisor at Health South Rehab.

Survivors are son, Mark Smith of Fort Smith, AR; two daughters, Renee Foster of Sallisaw, OK; and Melody Talmadge of Fort Smith, AR; four grandchildren, Steven Foster, Kristen Foster, Richard Talmadge and Billy Talmadge; four great-grandchildren, Noah, Alexis, Andrew and Kimberly; two brothers, W.G. Dobbs of Broken Arrow, OK and Harold Dobbs of Broken Arrow, OK; and several other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Alvin Eugene Smith, husband, brother, Billy Ray Dobbs and sister, Bernadine Matlock.

Active Pallbearers will be Steven Foster, Noah Foster, Mark Smith, Mark Smith JR, Jason Stewart and Amy Little.

Viewing will be 10 am – 8 pm Monday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw.
