Funeral service for Leo “Catfish” Owens, 82 of Moffett, Oklahoma will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at Moffett School Gymnasium in Moffett, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Shady Grove Cemetery in Roland, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

He was born on April 16, 1938 in Moffett, Oklahoma to and Alfred Owens and passed away on June 9, 2020 in Moffett, Oklahoma. He was married to Edna Mae Castleberry on June 6, 1958 in Poteau, Oklahoma. . Mr. Owens worked at ACME BRICK for 35 years until his retirement in 2003. He served as a member and president of Moffett School Board of Education for 32 years, was a member of New Morning Star Baptist Church where he served as an usher and a member of the brotherhood. He was an avid bowler and was recognized for bowling a 300 game. He was a sports fan and attended all sporting events involving his kids and grandkids.

Survivors are:

wife: Edna of the home;

4 daughters: Marsha Hatton and Maurice of Tulsa, OK, Sandra Owens of Ft. Smith, AR, Julie Owens of Ft. Smith, AR and Diana Owens of Ft. Smith, AR;

3 sons: Darrell Owens and Laverne of Ft. Smith, AR, Kevin Owens and Janette of Roland, OK and Tracy Banks of Van Buren, AR;

14 grandchildren: Maurice, Bria, Torrence, TiAnna, ShaTerra, D’Andre, Marquis, Denek, Rena, JR., Darnell “Squeaky”, Spencer, Janelle and Zachary

27 great-grandchildren:

He was preceded in death by his parents; several siblings; and 1 great-grandchild.

Active Pallbearers will be Marquis Posey, Darrell Owens, Jr., Darnell Owens, Aaron Hall, D’Andre Owens, Torrence Hatton, Kevin Owens, Jr.

Flowerbearers will be Deborah Wright, Janice Perry, Cletis Wilridge, Kim Bell, ShaTerra Belcher, Tianna Owens, Bria Hatton, Lela Owens, DeNek Wilson and Rena Owens.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Terry Jones, Lee Massey, Maurice Demitre Hatton, James Castleberry, Paul Hodgens, Doug Fletcher, Sylvester Carolina, Bill Horton, Shannon Perry, Gary Wright, Stanley Releford, Robert Wilson Jr., Jesse Ferguson, Thomas McClain and Charles Kinnard.

Honorary Flowerbearers will be Virginia Massey, Sarah Jones, Bonita Williams, Jessie Youngblood, Lisa Perryman, Felesia Coleman and Phyllis Bell.

Viewing will be 10 AM – 8 PM Friday at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow where the family will greet 6 – 8 pm.
