Funeral Service for Lesola (Woodruff) Henry, 99, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, January 6, 2021 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Fleetwood Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Lesola (Wooddruff) Henry was born in Gans, Oklahoma to Betty May and Frank Woodruff on July 22, 1921. She was the first of four children. She passed away in Sallisaw, Oklahoma on January 1, 2021.

In 1938, she married Jesse Truman Henry. They had a daughter, Hazel Ruth, and a son, William Harrison. Truman served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and it was while supporting her husband that Lesola briefly moved out of Sequoyah County for the only time in her life.

In 1952, she lost her husband to cancer. She never remarried. Now faced with having to provide for two children on her own, Lesola went to work for the first time and struggled through a series of jobs until she finally found a position at the hospital in Sallisaw. She worked at the hospital until her retirement. She was a member of the Church of God (Seventh Day) Fort Smith.

Lesola was first and foremost dedicated to her family. She enjoyed gardening and fishing, and often traveled hundreds of miles to visit her familly. Despite great distance, she was close to her children, grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, as well as the countless relatives and friends she enjoyed seeing close to home.

Survivors are:

daughter: Ruth Wilson and Don of Plains, KS;

2 grandsons: Phil Wilson and Deb of Norton, KS and Steve Wilson of McPherson, KS;

3 great-grandchildren: Megan, Katie and Caleb Wilson;

other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Truman; her son, Bill; her parents, Frank and May; and two brothers, Herschel and Ray Woodruff.

Viewing will be 9 AM – 10 AM Wednesday at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, OK.
