Linda Ruth (Marrs) Pruitt, 81, passed away peacefully at home on November 25, 2023 with her children and hospice care in Lewisville, Texas. Linda was born to the late Monza and Elvina Louise (Fields) Marrs on October 9, 1942, in Badger Lee, Oklahoma. She was also granddaughter to the late George Washington and Bettie Bell (Moore) Fields and John Wiley and Olive Julina (Whitlock) Marrs.
Linda is survived by her devoted husband of 62 years, Donald Lee Pruitt; her daughter Ann Louise (Pruitt) Rand of Houston, TX; son, Corey Edward Pruitt of Lewisville, TX; two grandsons, Colson and Garrett Rand of Dallas, TX; one sister Mary Katherine (Marrs) Sloan of Vian, OK; and many other nieces and nephews, family members and friends.
Linda married her high school sweetheart Donald Lee Pruitt on December 31, 1960 in Vian, Oklahoma. They moved to Oklahoma City, Oklahoma where she worked at the Federal Reserve Bank. In 1967 they moved to Farmers Branch, Texas, and on to Lewisville, Texas in 1974 where she worked for the Lewisville Independent School district as a nurse and bookkeeper for 27 years.
As a child Linda loved to explore the wilderness with her sister and friends, ride horses, play board and card games, and sit on the porch swing listening to music and singing.
Linda cherished her time with family and friends. She also had a love for April Fool’s pranks, China painting, dancing, travel, and anything chocolate.
She spent her 20 plus years of retirement enjoying and spoiling her grandsons.
Visitation will be held Friday, December 1, 2023 from 4 – 7 pm at the Agent Mallory Martin Chapel, 123 S Wheeler Ave, Sallisaw, OK 74955.
Funeral Services for Linda Ruth (Marrs) Pruitt, 81,will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, December 2, 2023 at the Vian United Methodist Church, at the corner of West Lee Street & South Blackstone Street in Vian, OK where lunch will be served at noon. Burial will follow the service at Box Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Active Pallbearers will be Corey Pruitt, Colson Rand, Garrett Rand, Jody Sloan, Seth Sloan and Sylas Sloan.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation be made to Ovarian Cancer Research, your local animal shelter, or your favorite charity.
