Lois (Thomas) Merrill

Funeral Service for Lois (Thomas) Merrill, 86, of Gans, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, August 23, 2021 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Fleetwood Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on April 19, 1935 in Rocky Point, Oklahoma to Vida (Price) Thomas and Walter Thomas and passed away on August 17, 2021 in Roland, Oklahoma. She was married to Jess “Bud” Merrill on June 29, 1953 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on March 18, 2008. She was a loving wife and mother to two very proud sons. Lois worked and retired from Sallisaw Public Schools and was a proud member of the Granny Program.

Survivors are:

2 children: Barry and Carolyn Merrill of Gans, OK and Terry and Jena Merrill of Broken Arrow, OK;

3 grandchildren: Josh Merrill of Muldrow, OK, Lisa and Jesse James of Gans, OK and Christopher Merrill of Gans, OK;

5 great-grandchildren: Madison Merrill, Laney James, Landon James, Allison Merrill and Peyton Merrill;

several other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Jess “Bud” Merrill; parents, Walter and Vida Thomas; six brothers, Herbert, J.B. Gib, Clay, Olin, Fay and Jimmy Thomas; and one sister, Mable Hall.

Viewing will be 2 – 8 PM Sunday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK.
