Lucille Momma Lou (Grigsby) Thomas

Funeral service for Lucille “Momma Lou” Thomas, 92, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, October 6, 2021 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Fairfield Cemetery in Stilwell, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on February 7, 1929 in Fairfield, Oklahoma to Nancy (Gritts) Grigsby and James Soldier Grigsby and passed away on October 2, 2021 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She was married to Herbert S. Thomas on February 11, 1947 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on May 18, 2016. Mrs. Thomas was a homemaker and a provider for Cherokee Nation for a brief period.

Survivors are:

1 daughter: Debra Vance and Tony of Cookson, OK;

3 sons: Herbert R. Thomas and Florence of Sallisaw, OK, Gary D. Thomas and Cathie of McMinnville, TN and Randy Wade of Sallisaw, OK;

10 grandchildren: Chris, Eric, Mark, Dennis, Melissa, Steven, Bobby, Brian, Stephanie and Lauren;

11 great-grandchildren: Noah, Kilee, Keagan, Zackery, Austin, Haley, Jace, Maria, Hannah, Felix and Leah;

3 sisters: Sue Alberty of Tahlequah, OK, Pat Fourkiller of Stilwell, OK and Lucretia Grigsby of Stilwell, OK;

numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 3 sisters: Virginia Gutillo, Dorothy Hogner and Carol Alec and 5 brothers: Winfred, Roy, Donald, James Ronald and Ned David Grigsby.

Active Pallbearers will be Kevin Fourkiller, Bruce Grigsby, Wayne Brown, Austin Burge, Keagan Thomas and Zackary Thomas.

Honorary Pallbearer will be Raymond Fourkiller.

Viewing will be 10 am – 8 pm Tuesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw where the family will greet 6 – 8 pm Tuesday.
