Marie E. (Burns) Osburn

Funeral Service for Marie E. (Burns) Osburn, 94, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, January 12, 2023 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Sallisaw City Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Marie was born on March 10, 1928 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to Buster and Grace (Wright) Burns and passed away on January 9, 2023 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She had a lot of work experience over the years and always took great pride in whatever job she was doing. She encouraged her children, by example, to do the same. She loved sewing, quilting and especially embroidery. There are lots of treasured keepsakes she handcrafted for family and friends

Marie loved to cook and took special pride in her Thanksgiving and Christmas cornbread dressing and her homemade pies with always-perfect meringue. She looked forward to cooking for and serving at church socials. She attended Way of the Cross Freewill Baptist Church.

For all her life experiences, she took the greatest pride in being a Mother, Grandma, Grammy and an Aunt to nieces and nephews whom she loved like her own.

Survivors are two daughters, Joan Gardner and Fred of Bartlesville, OK and Mary Winkleman and Perry of Owasso, OK; two sons, James Osburn of Sallisaw, OK and Jesse Osburn of Sallisaw, OK; five grandchildren, Dana Masterson Kelly Green, Timothy Shrum, Jonathan Shrum and Austin Osburn; nine great-grandchildren, Hailey, Ashlyn, Jonethan, Hayden, Addison, Ryker, Tuesday, Abrem and Ari; one great-great-granddaughter, Kadence Clementine; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, other friends and relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Woody Ray Osburn; son-in-law, Tommie Shrum; four brothers, John Burns, James “Bub” Burns, Floyd Burns and William “Bill” Burns; and one sister, Bonnie (Burns) Knight.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Chuck Perotti, Bill Watts, Bradley Upchurch, Lisa Brooks, Wanda Smith and the Sallisaw High School Class of 1947.

Viewing will be 10 AM – 8 PM Wednesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK where the family will greet 6 – 8 PM.
