Marie (Nicholas) Hawkins

Funeral Service for Marie Hawkins, 96, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 PM on Saturday, November 30, 2019 at Eastside Baptist Church in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Sallisaw City Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Marie Hawkins was born on June 22, 1923 in Pryor, Oklahoma to Loubirdie (Stovall) Nicholas and Cody Nicholas and passed away on November 26, 2019 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She was married to John E. Hawkins, Jr. on January 28, 1941 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on June 19, 2012. She was a retired secretary for Oklahoma DHS and First Baptist Church. She was a member of Eastside Baptist Church.

Survivors are:

1 daughter: Margaret Davis-Scherer and husband, Sandy, of Sallisaw, OK

2 grandchildren: Shelley Denny of Tulsa, OK and Sara Silzer and husband, Dr. Bob, of Little Rock, AR

4 great-grandchildren: Rachel Denny, Max Denny, Mary Silzer and Owen Silzer

daughter-in-law: Betty Hawkins of Dallas, TX

She was preceded in death by her son, John Hawkins, III, her husband, parents and 1 sister, Sue Catherine Nicholas.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Bob Silzer, Owen Silzer, Max Denny and Larry Dutton.

Viewing will be 10 AM – 8 PM Friday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, Oklahoma where the family will greet 6 – 8 PM.

Memorial contributions may be made to Eastside Baptist Church in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
