Marion (Mary) Rose Hiser departed this world on June 30, 2022 at the age of 87. Mary was born on August 22, 1934, near Sparks, Oklahoma to Edith and Ralph Quinn. She was the 4th of 8 living children. After graduating from Davenport High School in May 1952, she married Denver Hiser in December of that same year. Together, they raised five children and shared a life that spanned almost 60 years, until Denver’s death in 2013.

Mary was a wonderful homemaker. Her children and family meant the world to her and she made sure they knew it. Her small home was often filled with laughter, conversation, meals and music as it was a favorite gathering place for family and friends. Mary also had many interests and hobbies. She loved spending time in the kitchen and was known for her excellent cooking skills. Visitors were always encouraged to eat at her house and would gush about how good her food was. Some still do to this day. One of her favorite pastimes was quilting and it gave her great pleasure to give her handstitched quilts to her children and grandchildren. She was also an avid reader and her home was filled with books and magazines. Mary never passed up a good garage sale, loved putting together jigsaw puzzles and was a very competitive card player. Within the last few years, she was introduced to Facebook, online shopping, eBooks and playing Words with Friends, all of which she greatly enjoyed. She discovered that one can keep up with friends and loved ones through pictures and posts on Facebook. She quickly became an excellent social media stalker, even though she didn’t know what it was called. She also figured out how to share numerous recipes, and would successfully con her daughter into making many of them. She spent countless hours playing Words with Friends. It was not uncommon for her to have over 20 games going on at once. She was quite good at it and was every bit as competitive as she had always been. She left many with no chance to redeem themselves from the heavy losses she inflicted on them while playing this game and we are sure she relishes that fact.

Mary was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She leaves a void in many lives that can never be filled. She will be missed tremendously.

Mary is preceded in death by her husband, Denver, her parents, Edith & Ralph, three brothers, Jimmy, Ralph Jr., and Donnie, and one sister, Norma Jean. She is survived by five children, Kathy Vaught (Ronnie), Dennis Hiser (Pam), Terry Hiser, Sherrie Robb (Doug), David Hiser (Melinda), two sisters, Betty Griffin, Velma Gianfilippo, one brother, Joe Quinn, fourteen grandchildren, eighteen great-grandchildren, with a nineteenth on the way, three great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons and great-grandsons.

Visitation and family greet will be 6 – 8 PM Wednesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK.
