Graveside Services for Martha Sue (Brooks) Lawson, 86, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 at Sallisaw City Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
She was born on December 20, 1932 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to Linnie Bell (Casey) Brooks and James A. Brooks and passed away on June 10, 2019 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She was married to Odie Lawson on September 4, 2001 in Van Buren, Arkansas. He preceded her in death on December 15, 2010. Mrs. Lawson graduated from Sallisaw High School in 1949, she was an I.C.C. and Retail Clerk and also worked the check cashing window for Safeway Stores in Pasadena, California from 1955 to 1965. She returned to Sallisaw in July of 1965 and leased Lessley’s Cafe and operated it until September 1974. She returned to Safeway Stores in 1976 in Van Buren, Arkansas until 1980, then managed their delicatessen in Fort Smith, Arkansas until she retired in 1994. She was of the Protestant faith.
Survivors are:
1 daughter and son in law: Donna Keith and husband, D.C., of Sallisaw, OK;
2 granddaughters and sons in law: Tera McKenzie and husband, Jason, of Muldrow, OK and Deedra Rogers and husband, Casey, of Sallisaw, OK;
2 grandsons and 1 daughter in law: Samuel Keith of Muldrow, OK and Matthew Keith and wife, Shelby, of Sallisaw, OK;
9 great grandchildren: Hayden, Tucker, Hazlee, Samuel, Emma, Brody, Aurora, Olivia, Lindsey and one on the way;
step sons: Chris Lawson and Donald Lawson;
step daughters: Glenda Schmidt and Kathy Mostrum;
7 step granddaughters and 5 step grandsons;
1 sister: Amy Crosslin of Gans, OK;
numerous other relatives and friends
She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, 2 step sons: Gary Mason and Darrell Trueblood, 3 sisters: Maudie Keys, Ollie Campbell and Betty Forneszewski and 5 brothers: John, George, Jim, J.T., and D.S. “Peanut” Brooks.
Viewing will be 1 – 8 PM Tuesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.
