Obituaries

Funeral service for Mary E Collins, 91, of Blackgum, will be held on Sept 1, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma and burial to follow at Box Cemetery. Viewing will be on Monday, August 30, and Tuesday, August 31, from 10am until 8 pm. Visitation with family will be from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday and Tuesday.

Mary Ellen (Davis) Collins, born Nov 19, 1929 to Charlie Amber Davis and Lula Ann (McFarland) Davis, at Blackgum, Oklahoma. Mrs. Collins passed away on Aug 27, 2021, in Vian. She was the last sibling of 18 brothers and sisters, of which 16 lived to adulthood. She was married on Aug 31, 1944 to Thomas Voyd Collins in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She was retired from Vian Public Schools cafeteria and was a lifelong resident of Blackgum, Oklahoma. Mrs. Collins was a member of the Blackgum Harvest Time Church at Blackgum, Oklahoma. She was a homemaker and loved her home.

Survivors include her three sons, Rudy Collins of Blackgum; Charles and Brenda Collins of Little Rock, Arkansas; Thomas Mark Collins of Decatur, Alabama. 5 grandkids, 11 great grandkids, and 3 great, great, grandkids. Also, an uncountable number of nephews and nieces.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and son, Leland Collins of Independence, Missouri. 12 brothers, Lowell Cahill, Marion Thomas, Arthur Amber, Lester Owen, John Cecil, Charley Austin, Robert Benson, Wylie Samuel, Buster T, Albert Fulton “Doc”, Raymond “Red” Lee, Jack Cletis and 5 sisters, Madge Marie Marlow, Velma Olive Davis, Melvin Meril Burkhart, Vivian Alline Davis, and Lois Faye Delfer Gonzalez.

In lieu of flowers, the family request a charitable donation be made to the Blackgum Harvest Time Church in the name of Mary E. Collins. The address is 451558 E 980 Road., Vian, Oklahoma 74962.

Active Pallbearers will be Thomas Standingwater, Dean Risley, Ronnie Davis, Mike Davis, Charles Davis and Eric Collins.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Jim Davis, Robert “Robbie” Lee Eidson and Michael Thomas Eidson.
