Services for Max James “Jim” Chuculate, 75 of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 2 pm on July 26, 2018 at Church of Christ in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
He was born on June 3, 1943 in Harlem, Montana to Maxine (Breuninger) Chuculate and Richard Chuculate and passed away on July 20, 2018 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He had many fond memories of growing up with his beloved brother Bill on “the farm.” Jim graduated Sallisaw High School in 1961. He earned a bachelor’s degree in social work at NSU in Tahlequah. Later he received his masters degree in social work from Barry College in Miami, Florida. Jim was a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and served for Oklahoma Department of Human Services in Ardmore and Tulsa. Later he served at the Indian Health Service Clinics in Hugo and Wewoka. He retired from IHS in 1995, but continued to practice social work for several hospices in the Durant and Tishomingo area. Jim was a proud member of the Cherokee Nation. He loved to hunt and to fish, but his favorite pastime was spending time with his many friends and family.

Survivors are:

two daughters, Robyn Stewart and husband Scott of Muldrow, OK and Jamie Hamil and husband Kevin of Durant, OK,
grandchildren, Elissa Hamil and her love Connor Lenderman and Alec Hamil and his love Katie Garlington of Durant,
niece, Jill White and daughter Cecily of Fort Worth, TX,
nephew, Jeff Chuculate of Tahlequah, OK and his children Chyanne, River, and Rylee,
step-daughters, Stacy Hallmark and husband Larry of Durant, and Karen Boyett of Durant,
grandsons, Blake Harlin and wife Teena of Durant, and Drew Boyett of Las Vegas, NV.
As well as children who he adopted by heart, Chad, Ashley, and Chase Cole, Leon, Rita, Hampton and Ty Gibson, and Jerry Don Chuculate and his children, all the Bruner kids,
special cousins, Margaret Raymond and Maxine Dugan
as well as numerous family and so many close friends that he considered family

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Maxine Chuculate, brother Bill Chuculate, and a granddaughter, Rachel Boyett

Honorary pallbearers will be Gerald Babb, Haskell Groves, Brian Boon, Shawn Hamil, Eddie Summers, Carl Holiday, Jim Johnson.

Viewing will be 10 am – 8 pm Tuesday, 10 am – 8 pm Wednesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, Oklahoma where the family will greet 6 – 8 pm Wednesday.
