Maxine (Ballard) Young

Funeral Service for Maxine (Ballard) Young, 92, of Vian, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, April 5, 2023 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Dwight Mission Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Maxine (Ballard) Young was born on January 3, 1931 in the Sycamore Community, in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma near Pinhook Corner, to Fannie Mae (Craighead) Ballard and William Randolph Ballard and passed away on April 1, 2023 in Stilwell, Oklahoma. She was married to J.C. Young and he preceded her in death on January 12, 1995. Maxine was a retired activities director at Sequoyah Manor Nursing Home. She loved to walk to the creek and do any outdoor activity. She loved her dogs, traveling, and most of all she loved her family.

Survivors are two sons, Thomas Young and Theresa of Vian, OK and Marlin Young of Stilwell, OK; two daughters, Magebracht Fletcher of Warner, OK and Cherokee Wallis of Van Buren, AR; 17 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Barbara Houston and Mutt of Owasso, OK and Edna Cartwright of Sallisaw, OK; one sister-in-law, Donna Jean Ballard of Durant, OK; and several other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J.C. Young; three children, James Young, Druscilla “Sue” Barnes and Jimmy Young; five grandchildren, Tamara Young, Olen Lee Kennedy, Chad Chesser, Eugene Copeland and Ty Barnes; and two brothers, Dempsey Paul Ballard and Tuxa Ballard.

Active Pallbearers will be Jacob Williams, Teddy Fisher, Thomas Young, Jr., Everett Barnes, Colten Purdom, Adrian Martinez, Josh Young and Roy Davidson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bobby Edwards, Jonathan Williams, Shiloh Young and Chad Lane Crow.

Viewing will be 10 AM – 8 PM Tuesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK where the family will greet visitors 6 – 8 PM.
