Michael Stephens, age 70, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, departed this life on March 8, 2025, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories.

Born on June 26, 1954, to Dorothy (Secondi) and Oscar Lewis Stephens, Michael dedicated his life to learning and his family. He was a proud alumnus of Northeastern State University, where he earned a degree in Mathematics, Engineering Physics and Industrial Technology with a minor in Humanities, and Oklahoma State University, where he obtained his Master's Degree in Chemical Engineering. His professional journey culminated in a respected career as a Chemical Engineer at Conoco Phillips Petroleum Company.

Michael married his beloved wife, Elaine (Jackson) Stephens, on July 4, 2008, in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Together, they created a warm home filled with love and laughter. Michael was a prime member of the Cherokee Nation. He had a passion for camping and enjoyed the sounds of BlueGrass music, often celebrating these interests at various festivals.

He is survived by his wife, Elaine; two daughters, Ashley Bishop and her husband Darren of Edmond, OK, and Linsey O'Field and her husband Brian of Durango, CO; the mother of his children, Janna Long; a step-daughter, Brooke Roberts of Sallisaw, OK; and three step-sons, Shea Humphrey and his wife Samantha of Jenks, OK, Jeff Humphrey of Sallisaw, OK, and Chase Humphrey of Sallisaw, OK. Michael also took great joy in his eight grandchildren, Justice, Shay, Cash, Lane, Ava, Graceanne, Tommy III and Dylan and one great-grandchild, Tommy IV.

He is further survived by three sisters, Jerry Ann Crow of Oklahoma City, OK, Karen Fargo of Sallisaw, OK, and Tonya Stephens of Sallisaw, OK; one brother, Dan Davenport of Muldrow, OK; along with numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends who will miss him dearly.

Michael was preceded in death by his parents, O.L. and Dorothy Stephens; two brothers, James Lewis and Oscar Lewis Stephens, II; one sister, Debi Denley; and one sister-in-law, Dee Davenport.

A funeral service will be held to honor Michael's life on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at 11:00 AM at First Christian Church in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Akins Cemetery, with arrangements directed by Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc. Active pallbearers include Shea Humphrey, Darren Bishop, Brian O'Field, Jackie Horn, Andrew Aldredge and J.R. Bibb.

The viewing will be from 10 AM to 8 PM on Wednesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK, with a time for family greetings from 5 PM to 7 PM.
