Mildred F. (McClure) Callahan, 87, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, passed away on January 17, 2025, in Vian, Oklahoma. Born on July 24, 1937, in Carlsbad, New Mexico, she was the daughter of Myrtle (Ross) McClure and James Rufus McClure.
Mildred’s life was defined by her commitment to family and faith. She was maried to Kenneth Callahan on November 16, 1957, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. The couple was married for more than 66 years until Ken's passing last year.
Mildred cherished her time serving and teaching young people. She worked as a teacher's aide at Liberty Elementary School and was a longstanding member of First Assembly of God Church in Sallisaw, where she served as a Missionettes and youth group leader.
She is survived by her four sons: Greg Callahan and Jami of Fort Smith, AR, James Kendall Callahan of Carrollton, TX, Bradley Eric Callahan and Stacy of Sallisaw, OK, and Chris Callahan and Julie of Plano, TX; 10 grandchildren: Courtney Adair and Kevin, Christa Woodside and Trey, Brandon Callahan, Eric Callahan and Sabrina, Kayla Callahan and Tim Tran, Brice Callahan, Brittany Ekberg and Kyler, Ryan Fair, Parker Callahan, and Landry Callahan; 16 great-grandchildren; her brother, James V. McClure and Kathy of Broken Arrow, OK; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.
Mildred was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother; and two sisters.
The community is invited to pay their respects during the viewing on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK, where the family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service for Mildred will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 23, 2025, at First Assembly of God Church in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, with burial to follow at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Active Pallbearers will be Kevin Adair, Trey Woodside, Tim Tran, Brice Callahan, Kyler Ekberg, Eric Callahan, Caden Callahan, Camden Callahan and Ryan Fair.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Larry Hohn, Wayne Land, Wendell Norrid, Herb Pierce, Rev. Harold McKeehen, Frank Weatheford, Dennis Sprouse, Harold Powell, Harold Tomlin and Paul Marshall.
Mildred will be remembered not only for her roles as mother, grandmother, wife, sister and friend, but also for her strong faith, dedication to her family, competitive spirit, sense of humor and compassion for others.
