Mollie Marlene (Gillet) Scatena, age 66, of Roland, Oklahoma, went to meet God and her family in heaven on April 19, 2024. She was born September 5, 1957, in Bakersfield, California.
Mollie was a sweet, loving and caring person who adored children and dedicated her life to her family. She had a beautiful singing voice and enjoyed singing country music by The Judds, Patsy Cline or Crystal Gail with her husband, son and brothers who played guitar. She sang in the OLPH Church choir. She cherished spending time in the sun at the beach or lake and made several trips to Hawaii, one of her favorite places on earth. In her early years she liked to scuba dive and later would parasail every chance she could. She grew up in the California central valley, moved with her husband to the Carolinas where she was active with the Commission for the Blind who helped her in her time of need. Her heart was always in Eastern Oklahoma and Fort Smith, Arkansas, due to her family roots and was able to move there in 2019.
Mollie's first job was working at a local drive-in in Delano, California to earn her own spending money. She attended Cecil Avenue School, Delano High School Class of 1975, and Riverside City College. Most of her adult career was in the accounting field for Robert B. Doe Oilfield Service, Rick Davis Music, and Fishing Tool Inc., in Bakersfield, California. Her true calling was discovered when she began working at Our Lady of Perpetual Help School as a kindergarten teacher's aide.
She is survived by her husband, Dominic M. Scatena; son, Dominic L. Scatena; mother-in-law, Maxine Scatena; brothers, Wayne Gillet and Jimmy Gillet; sisters, Margaret Teague, Patricia Climer, Diane Matthews and Evelyn Holt; along with numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
