Morris D. Herring

Services for Morris D. Herring, 83 formerly of Sallisaw, OK will be at 1:00 pm on January 18, 2018 at First Baptist Church in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Sallisaw City Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Morris Dean Herring, of Sallisaw, completed his earthly journey on January 12, 2018 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was a Christian and his home church was First Baptist of Sallisaw. He was born in Tucker, Oklahoma on March 26, 1934 to Herbert and Ethel Herring. He was a graduate of Spiro High School. He attended Carl Albert Junior College. He worked for General Motors in Pontiac, Michigan, the Bond Bread Company in Tulsa, and the Wonder Bread Company in Tulsa. He and his family moved to Sallisaw in 1973. Morris worked over 35 years as a distributor for the Landshire Company. He enjoyed fishing, movies at the Drive-in Theater, amusement parks, Branson music shows, watching St. Louis Cardinal baseball games, OU and OSU football. He was a kind, generous, and fun-loving person. He enjoyed making friends throughout his life. Morris’ message to all would be Hebrews 13, verse 16: “Do not neglect to do good and to share what you have, for such sacrifices are pleasing to God.”

Morris was preceded in death by his parents; his beautiful wife of 61 years, Macye Aileen (Tanner) Herring; a granddaughter, Christie Bush; son in law, Donald Smith; brothers, J.B. Herring, Howell Herring and Lawson Herring; and sisters, Reba Maxwell, Khiva Fholer, and Eugenia Maxwell.

Left with great memories of his life are his brother, Garvin Herring of Tonkawa, OK; daughter, Cathy Smith of Shawnee, OK; son, Mike Herring of Sallisaw; daughter, Kim Fendley and son in law, Tom; granddaughters, Kylie and Maycee of North Little Rock, AR; great grandsons, Harold, Samuel, and Reece Bush of Central Oklahoma; and nephews, Todd Chester of Tecumseh, OK and David Chester of Broken Arrow, OK.

Visitation with the family of Morris Herring will be Wednesday from 6 – 8 pm at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw.
