Norma Francis (Wagers) Rogers

Funeral Service for Norma Francis (Wagers) Rogers, 87 of Muldrow, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, June 2, 2022 at First Assembly of God Church in Muldrow, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Gans Cemetery in Gans, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on December 20, 1934 in Redland community, Oklahoma to Bessie (Jordan) Wagers and George Wagers and passed away on May 27, 2022 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Norma grew up in Redland and attended Gans Public Schools. Upon graduating, she married the love of her life, Herman Rogers Jr. on May 24, 1952 in Van Buren, AR. They enjoyed 62 years together. Norma and Junior had 3 children, Sheryl Jean, Michael Jim and Timothy Mark. Norma was a great mom and worked several jobs over the years. She started college when her children reached school age and earned degrees from Connors State College and Northeastern State University. Her almost 30 year elementary teaching career was with Muldrow Public Schools. She also taught GED classes with Carol Roe and after retirement was a substitute teacher for Muldrow and Roland Public Schools. Norma’s favorite things were her church, Cornerstone Freewill Baptist Church, cooking for friends and family, canning and making jelly. Norma enjoyed traveling with other retired teachers and her buddy, Doris Howell. Her favorite place to eat was George’s Restaurant in Fort Smith, AR.

Survivors are:

2 Sons, Mike (Kathy) Rogers of Muldrow, OK and Mark (Toni) Rogers of Owasso, OK;

5 Grandchildren, Colt Rogers of Greenwood, AR, Katie Rogers of Omaha, NE, Maggie (Cole) Dillard of Muldrow, OK, Marah Osborne of Owasso, OK and Grace Osborne of Owasso, OK;

2 Great Grandchildren, Blair Dillard of Muldrow, OK and Dawson Brunk of Owasso, OK;

Two Sisters, Betty Brown of Van Buren, AR and Polly Dority of Muldrow, OK;

numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her daughter, Sheryl Jean and her parents.

Active Pallbearers will be James Carroll Rogers, Skylar Rogers, Scottie Rogers, Randy Cherry, Steve Woodruff and Angelo Gipson.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Carl Cheshier, Ron Briscoe, Dennis Jeremiah, Richard Huggins, Dr. Joe Followell, Ted Stamps and Ron Owens.

Viewing will be 10 AM – 8 PM Wednesday at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow, OK where the family will greet 6 – 8 PM.

The family would like to thank Keith and Macinda Ruddick and all the staff at Carrington Village for the excellent care as well as the hospice nurses and Dr. Sullivan. Also, thank you to Sally Watkins and Norma Russell for being there with her son during Norma’s last moments. Norma was loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
