Memorial Service for Opal Darlene (Matthews) Slattery, 73 of Muskogee, Oklahoma will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 28, 2020 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc. Burial of cremains at Fleetwood Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at a later date.

She was born on February 26, 1947 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma to Vera Mae (Steele) Matthews and Troy Golden Matthews and passed away on August 20, 2020 in Muskogee, Oklahoma. She was a beloved mother, homemaker, Christian, and had earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and Business.

Survivors are:

son and daughter-in-law: Rodney and Shawnya Slattery, of Richardson, Texas;

daughter: DeAnna Slattery, of Arlington, Texas;

three grandchildren: Riley Slattery, Walker Slattery, and Keira Slattery of Richardson, Texas;

One sister: Kay Wilcox of Ft. Smith, Arkansas;

One brother and sister-in-law: Sam and Alta Matthews of Sallisaw, Oklahoma;

Numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Troy and Vera Matthews; six sisters, Freda Maxine McGowan, Phyllis Ann Matthews, Thelma Jean Ware, Norma Sheppard, Patsy Coatney and Nelda Brown; and six brothers, Jerry Dean Matthews, Raymond McGowan, Jr., Carl Matthews, Troy Matthews, James Matthews and Charles Kenneth Matthews.
