Peggy A. (Bates) Hope

Graveside Service for Peggy A. (Bates) Hope, 88, formerly of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, November 4, 2021 at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on April 20, 1933 in Fayetteville, Arkansas to May Katie (Cooper) Bates and Frank Bates and passed away on November 2, 2021 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was married to Jim Hope on May 2, 1953 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on September 7, 2009. She formerly worked in banking and for the City of Sallisaw. She was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors are:

daughter and son-in-law, Jami Callahan and Greg of Fort Smith, AR;

2 granddaughters, Courtney Hope Adair and Kevin of West Fork, AR and Christa Woodside and Trey of Siloam Springs, AR;

5 great-grandchildren, Matthew Adair, Caden Callahan, Camden Callahan, Katelyn Hope Adair and Calah Hope Woodside;

and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; one sister, Betty Michel; and five brothers, John, Harold, Lloyd, Wayne and Charles Bates.

Viewing and Visitation will be Noon – 8 PM Wednesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK where the family will greet 6 – 8 PM.
