Phyllis (Catozza) Barnes

Funeral Service for Phyllis Barnes, 82, of Roland, Oklahoma will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc. Burial will be held at a later date at U.S. National Cemetery in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

She was born on August 22, 1941 in Steubenville, Ohio to Mary (Panzarella) Catozza and Pietro “Pete” Catozza and passed away on January 23, 2024 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was married to Rev. Mr. Robert J. Barnes on May 28, 1960 in Steubenville, Ohio. He preceded her in death on January 11, 2016. Phyllis was a retired Elementary School Secretary for Roland Public Schools and of the Catholic faith.

Survivors are four sons, Mike Barnes and Roxana of Muldrow, OK, David Barnes and Charlene Smith of Ennis, TX, Bobby Barnes and Dawn of Roland, OK, and Jackie Barnes and Linda of Muldrow, OK; 12 grandchildren, Tamara Barnes, Tiffany Rinehart and Brian, Rachel Pitts, Emily Munn and John, Heather Cadenhead and Steven, Whitney Barnes, Samantha Tabor and Logan, Robert Barnes and Kelli, Josh Barnes, Kyla Barnes and Tyler Bates, Nick Barnes and Shea, and Dylan Barnes and Brittany; 18 great-grandchildren, Blake and Brianna Rinehart, Noah Pitts, Jack, Annika, and Ozzie Cadenhead, Emma and Adaline Barnes, Bryson Lasiter, Cooper Bates, Lincoln and Liam Tabor, Nash and Robert James Barnes Jr., Remi Barnes, Haygen, Kensley, and Sawyer Barnes; one sister, Mary Mastroianni of Steubenville, OH; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, Matthew Robert Barnes; her parents; two sisters, Elizabeth Morelli and Catherine “Ninnie” Dustolfo; and one brother, Frank Catozza.

The family would like to give a special thanks to Emily Rowe, Charity Rowe, and Kaytlin Barnes for the special care that they gave to Phyllis.

Viewing will be 10 AM – 8 PM Monday at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow where the family will greet 5 – 7 PM and Rosary following at 7 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Kateri Tekawitha Catholic Church, P.O. Box 17, Roland, OK 74954.
