Phyllis (Sasnett) Duty

Phyllis (Sasnett) Duty, age 85, passed away on February 3, 2025, in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Born on May 11, 1939, in Red Oak, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of Yuther Irene (Duke) Sasnett and James Edgar Sasnett. Phyllis was a devoted wife to Cecil Duty, with whom she shared countless memories and experiences throughout their life together. On February 22nd, they would have shared their 67th wedding anniversary.

An active member of the Faith Assembly of God Church, Phyllis embraced her faith and community, finding joy and fellowship among her church family. She had a wide array of interests that brought light to her life, including clogging, antiquing, playing cards, reading, and ceramics. These pastimes not only enriched her own life, but also allowed her to connect with others, sharing her passions and talents. Phyllis was known as the "Social Security Lady."

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Cecil, of the home; her daughter, Carla Howard and Bryan of Pocola, Oklahoma; her son, Christopher Duty of Akins, Oklahoma; her sister, Darlene Duncan and Craig of Moore, Oklahoma; and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her granddaughter, Tori Mills; her sister, Connie Cochran; and her brother, James "Damon" Sasnett.

The funeral service for Phyllis will take place at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, at the Faith Assembly of God Church in Sallisaw, Oklahoma with burial to follow at Akins Cemetery in Sallisaw under the direction of Agent and Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw.

Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the viewing scheduled for February 4, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and the visitation from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home in Sallisaw, Oklahoma.

Active pallbearers will be Bobby Walters, Dean Myers, Dennis Brewer, Steve Cochran, Ryan Cochran, and Craig Duncan.
