Phyllis Mae (Metcalf) Sims

Funeral service for Phyllis Mae Sims, 88 of Nicut community, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, March 22, 2021 at Short Baptist Church in Short community, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Sims Cemetery in Belfonte, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on August 28, 1932 in Redding, California to Edna Mae (Ansel) Spitzig and Harold Nevlin Metcalf and passed away on March 18, 2021 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Mrs. Sims was a line production worker for General Tire, homemaker and a cattlewoman. She was a member of Short Baptist Church.

She raised her 5 children, Carol Henson and Gerald of Nicut community, OK and Cindy Short and Steve of Nicut community, OK; Jimmy Sims of Shawnee, OK, Kenny Sims of Nicut community, OK and Bill Sims of Nicut community, OK;

They blessed her with 13 grandchildren: Becky Gray, Andy Sims, Mandy Sims, James Sims, Kendra Stevens, Jesse Gay, Amye McCarley, Chris Short, Beau Short, Avery Short, Rachel Sims, Wesley Sims and Jake Sims and 19 great grandchildren;

Also survivng is her sister: Elverta Griffin of Coweta, OK and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son: Jesse Wheeler Sims, parents: Robert “Curly” Spitzig, Edna Spitzig and Harold Metcalf, 2 sisters: RoEtta Heldenbrand and Carol Metcalf and 2 brothers: Harold Metcalf, Jr. and Carl Metcalf.

Active Pallbearers will be Jesse Gay, James Sims, Chris Short, Beau Short, Wesley Sims, Avery Short, Andy Sims,  and Jake Sims.

Visitation will be 2 – 8 PM Sunday at Short Baptist Church.
