Funeral Service for Raybern Lee Poindexter, 71, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 18, 2022 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Rocky Point Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

He was born on May 11, 1950 in Rocky Point in Sequoyah County, Oklahoma to Eula Mae (Davis) Poindexter and Levi Poindexter and passed away on February 12, 2022 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He was married to Newanna (Rutledge) Poindexter on August 4, 1995 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was an auto mechanic and of the Baptist faith.

Survivors are:

Wife, Newanna of the home;

3 Daughters, Siss Poindexter of Heber Springs, AR, Tiffany Julstead of Sallisaw, OK and Brandy Julstead of Sallisaw, OK;

4 Sons, Rodney Poindexter of Sallisaw, OK, Shannon Poindexter of Sallisaw, OK, Ray Poindexter of Sallisaw, OK and Josh Young of Sallisaw, OK;

28 Grandchildren and numerous Great-Grandchildren;

Mother, Eula Mae (Davis) Poindexter of Sallisaw, OK;

7 Sisters, Aline Woodard of Sallisaw, OK, Katherine Smith of Sallisaw, OK, Beulah Green of Sallisaw, OK, Mary Giboney of Muldrow, OK, Anita Lockhart of Sallisaw, OK, Jennie Scott of Oregon and Sherrie Thomas of Arkansas;

and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one son, Jason Julstead; his father, Levi Poindexter; two sisters, Leatha Mae Wolfe and Rena’ Renfrow; and two brothers, Ira and Alton Poindexter.

Active Pallbearers will be Rodney Poindexter, Shannon Poindexter, Ray Poindexter, Calvin Teague, Courtland Teague, Josh Young and Shelby Sells.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Dwight Davis, Dewayne Thomas, Howard Rutledge, Terry Poindexter, Butch Branham and Donald Davis.

Viewing will be Noon – 8 PM Wednesday and 10 AM – 8 PM Thursday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK where the family will greet 6 – 8 PM Wednesday.
