Funeral Service for Rev. William “Bill” Peters, 82, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 7, 2022 at Victory Worship Center in Spiro, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Shady Point Cemetery in Shady Point, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

He was born on May 21, 1939 to Sammy Katherine (McNeil) Peters and Simon Jack Peters and passed away on January 29, 2022 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was married to Florence Eugenia (Estep) Peters on April 18, 1960 in Shady Point, Oklahoma. He graduated from Picher Oklahoma High School. He is a Graduate of Draughons College of Business majoring in Accounting & Commercial Law; and the JCI Technical Institute of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Berean College of the Bible for Ministers in Springfield, Missouri; MIST – Minister in Service Training in Little Rock, Arkansas; Continuing Education at Oklahoma State University Stillwater College of Engineering, Architecture & Technology; and CEUs also at Carl Albert State College; and at OU in Norman; ORU in Tulsa and CEUs in Church Financial Management, Dallas, Texas.

Survivors are:

wife, Florence of the home;

1 daughter, LaJeanna Skelton and Gary of Panama, OK;

1 son, Jackie Lee Peters and partner, Allen Wilson of Muldrow, OK;

8 grandchildren, Quinn Thompson of Poteau, OK, Kendall Thompson of Poteau, OK, Tarra Thompson of Dallas, TX, Renee Starling of Owasso, OK, Sammy Peters of Poteau, OK, Simon Peters of Sallisaw, OK, Blake Skelton of Poteau, OK and Dalea Skelton of Spiro, OK;

13 great-grandchildren, Evelyn, Eleanor, Kenadee, Lincoln, Ayden, Tyrell, Shantel, Xander, Logan, Xochie, Xylin, Xianahi and Adam;

1 great-great-grandchild, Carter and 1 on the way;

3 sisters, Ann Thompson of Wapato, WA, Jacqueline Stout of Denton, TX and Rebecca Good of Stigler, OK;

1 brother, Phillip Peter of Grand Junction, CO;

and several other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his son, Jon Eric Peters; parents; and two brothers, Timothy Peter and Simon Peter.

Active Pallbearers will be Jackie Lee Peters, Simon Peters, Curt Starling, Quinn Thompson, Kendall Thompson and Gary Skelton.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Bob Hill, Fred Brewer, Joey Gunter, Dwayne Brown and Wayne Merrill.

Viewing will be 2 – 8 PM Sunday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw where the family will greet 4 – 6 pm.
