Funeral Mass for Robert J. Gavin, 86, of Vian, Oklahoma will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, January 22, 2021 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Buffington Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

He was born on April 22, 1934 in Elwood, Indiana to Dorothy and Ernest Gavin and passed away on January 18, 2021 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He was married to Marlene (Ault) Gavin on November 25, 1954 in Hartford City, Indiana. He was a farmer and a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Sallisaw.

Survivors are:

wife: Marlene of the home;

daughter: Debbie Haraway of Vian, OK;

5 sons: Tom Gavin and Pam of Bandero, TX, Michael Gavin and Ann of Henryetta, OK, John Gavin and Trish of Wetumka, OK, Dale Rumple of Kansas, OK and Bobby Bowman and Cherie of Decatur, AR;

17 grandchildren: Cheyanne and Buddy Suter, Shannon and Matt Casebolt, Jeremiah Gavin, Wendy Gavin, Colt and Emily Gavin, Trevor and Rebecca Gavin, Tara and Chase Weger, Kyle and Sarah Bowman, Keri Bowman and Katie and Robert Henderson;

21 great-grandchildren;

other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by three great-grandchildren, Dalton Suter, Matthew Gavin and Sara Gavin; his parents; and one brother, Richard Gavin.

Active Pallbearers will be Chase Weger, Colt Gavin, Matt Casebolt, Kyle Bowman, Trevor Gavin, Buddy Suter, Robert Henderson and Jeremiah Gavin.

Viewing will be 10 AM – 8 PM Thursday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK.
