Robert Nelson Chunestudy, 82, of Vian, Oklahoma was called home Monday, March 19, 2018. Robert was a skilled carpenter by trade. He was employed by the Oklahoma Department of Transportation, Cherokee Nation, and Marble City School where he loved the students and staff. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War. He married Mabel Smith on July 4, 1959.

He is survived by his wife, Mabel of the home; 1 son, Ronnie Chunestudy and wife, Cindy of Marble City, OK; 3 daughters, Treva Fields and husband, LS of Marble City, OK, Roberta Chunestudy of Marble City, OK, and Missy Chanate and husband, Sonny of Tahlequah, OK; 1 sister, Mary Ann Tucker and husband, Charles of Salina, OK; 1 brother, Ralph Chunestudy of Jay, OK; 10 grandchildren, Trent, LaShawna, Lyndon, Dayshia, Kyle, Lacey, Wahnema, ToShena, Ahliyah, and Phy-Shaun; 10 great grandkids, Stryker, Maysi, Scarlett, Emma, Cayden, Lyndly, Karsyn, Lakelyn, Malena, and Stokely; special friends, Tommy and Geneva Grass and family and Raymond Pigeon and family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jalem Chunestudy and Josie Jumper; 4 sisters, Billie Jean Lankford, Trisha Goodman, Rosie Tehee, and Maggie Bendabout; and 2 infant sons.

Funeral service is Thursday, March 22, 2018 at 10 am at Stokes-Smith Ceremonial Grounds in Vian, OK. Burial will follow at Jumper Cemetery in Jay, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw.

Viewing is Wednesday from 10 am – 8 pm at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK. The family will greet from 6 – 8 pm.

Active pallbearers will be members of Stokes-Smith Ceremonial Grounds.
