Celebration of Life for Robert Dale Pittman, 85, of Muldrow, Oklahoma, will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, June 17, 2024 at Hanson Baptist Church in Hanson Community, Oklahoma. Cremation is under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Robert Dale Pittman was born on Mother's Day, May 14,1939, to Henry and Marcella (Stickney) Pittman, in Oronogo, Missouri and passed away on May 17, 2024 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. In 1958, Robert graduated from Seneca High School in Seneca, Missouri and later attended Kentucky State University in Frankfurt, Kentucky, and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky.
He married his first wife, his high school sweetheart and beauty queen, Georgia Sandlin and they had three children, Randy, Robyn, and Darla. In 1982, he married Becky Tillman and re-entered the ministry and helped her raise her three sons, Mark, Michael, and Bryan.
At the age of 19, Rob, as his mother called him, entered the ministry. He would then go on to preach and pastor for the next 60 years in Oklahoma, Arkansas, Missouri, Nebraska and North Dakota. He also led three churches to build new sanctuaries, with the most recent being Hanson Baptist Church in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He excelled in mechanics, cabinet making, construction, and singing with his beautiful bass voice. These skills helped provide additional income for his family, as he was bi-vocational for many years.
If you knew him, you know his greatest desire in life was to preach the Gospel of Christ and for everyone to know Jesus as their personal Lord and Savior. He often stated that he could not wait to be in the presence of his Heavenly Father and hear Him say, "Well done, THY good and faithful servant."
He is survived by his wife, Becky, of 41 years; one son, Randy Pittman; two daughters, Robyn McKaig and John, and Darla Pittman; three step-sons, Mark Tillman and Reneé, Michael Tillman and his special friend, Melony Graham, and Bryan Tillman and Jayna; one brother, Chet Pittman; 15 grandchildren, Jazz and Brittney Hussain, Hillary Bodner, Mallory Parr, Kendyl Redding, Dustin, Madison, Alexis, Layne, Layna, Landon, Jaustin, Kindle and Aleeya Tillman, and Lyndee Boullion; and seven great-grandchildren and two arriving soon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Marcella Pittman; and numerous aunts and uncles.
