Ruth Angeline (VanPelt) Quickel was born to Kermit VanPelt and Ruth Emma (Graham) on February 27, 1938 in Springfield, Ohio and passed away July 28, 2018 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma having reached the age of 80.
Ruth Ann was raised by her mother, Ruth Emma, and Otha Bennett in Springfield, where she graduated from Springfield High School.
Ruth Ann married Charles Cecil Quickel on May 9, 1955 in Springfield, Ohio. They had seven children, Greg, Beverly, Todd, Tim, Chad, Matt, and Leigh Ann. They made their home in Oklahoma. Ruth Ann Attended and graduated nursing school at Westark Community College in Ft. Smith, AR where she obtained her licensed practical nurse degree and made her career in nursing and helping others before retiring later in life. Ruth Ann loved spending time with her family, canning vegetables from her garden, and helping anyone in need. Ruth Ann also had a special place in her heart for her dog, Zoey.
Survivors include five children: Greg Quickel of Sallisaw, OK; Beverly Crites and husband, Jim of Sallisaw, OK; Tim Quickel and wife, Barbara of Edmond, OK; Matt Quickel and wife, Angie of Elmore City, OK; and Leigh Ann Callahan and husband, Tracy of Sallisaw, OK; daughter in law, Kathy Quickel of Sallisaw, OK; two sisters, Martha Roland of Springfield, OH and Janice Naill of Springfield, OH; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her parents, Kermit and Ruth Emma VanPelt and Otha Bennett; her husband, Charles Cecil Quickel; two children, Todd Quickel and Chad Quickel; two brothers, Bill Bennett and Richard Bennett; and half-sister, Harriet Oberly.
The family will greet with friends Tuesday from 6 – 8 pm at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw.
Private graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at 11 am at Akins Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made to Northeastern Health System Hospice in Sallisaw, OK
