Ruthie (Locust) Blackbird

Funeral service for Ruthie Blackbird, 86 of Vian, Oklahoma will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, June 14, 2023 at Blackgum Harvestime Church in Vian, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at McCoy Evening Shade Cemetery in Vian, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on April 3, 1937 in Claremore, Oklahoma to Katie (Seabolt) Locust and Walker Locust and passed away on June 7, 2023 in Vian, Oklahoma. She was married to Coming Blackbird. He preceded her in death on January 13, 2013. Mrs. Blackbird was a homemaker.

Survivors are four daughters, Lucy Sequichie of Vian, OK, Josie Cheater of Marble City, OK, Irene Ramirez of Sallisaw, OK and Susanna Blackbird of Marble City, OK; three sons, Georgie Roberts of Marble City, OK, James Blackbird of Vian, OK, and John Blackbird of Marble City, OK; 28 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; five sons, Adam Blackbird, Robert Locust, John E. Blackbird, Eli Blackbird and Jim Blackbird; four sisters, Polly Christie, Louella Taylor, Mary Noel and Marie Noel; and three brothers, Charlie Locust, Jim Byrd and George Locust.

Active Pallbearers will be Abe Locust, Bo Locust, Justin Roberts, Jeffery Roberts, Deon Byrd, Gary Christie and Billy Baldridge.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her grandsons.

Viewing will be 4 PM Tuesday at her home.
