Funeral Service for Sallie (Byrd) Sevenstar, 72, of Nicut Community, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, August 28, 2020 at First Baptist Church in Muldrow, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Bellefonte Cemetery in Muldrow, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc. The family has requested that masks be worn.

Burial will follow at Bellefonte Cemetery in Muldrow, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc. The family has requested that masks be worn.

She was born on December 7, 1947 in Nicut Community, Seq. Co. Oklahoma to Lillian (Dellis) Byrd and Watie Stanley Byrd and passed away on August 24, 2020 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She was married to Lee Sevenstar. She was a retired Educator for over 30 years. She was the first Bilingual Cherokee Speaker to receive her Bachelors and Masters Degree from Northeastern State University. She was the Secretary and Treasurer of Bellefonte Baptist Church for over 50 years where she taught Sunday School, led music and was a part of every aspect of church life. Although Sallie accomplished many things in her life, her love of God, her family and the pride in her grandchildren were her greatest achievements.

Survivors are:

husband: Lee of the home;

2 daughters: Sheila and James Horn of Nicut, OK and LaNell Sevenstar Byrd and Dwayne of Bellefonte, OK;

2 grandchildren: Celia and Levi Johnson of Bellefonte, OK and Watie Byrd of Nicut, OK;

3 sisters: Ginny Byrd Pittman and husband, Pete, of Tahlequah, OK, Debra Byrd of Nicut, OK and Tammy Byrd of Nicut, OK;

2 brothers: George Byrd and Wanda of Flute Springs, OK and Joe Byrd of Tahlequah, OK;

nieces and nephews: Andrea Byrd, Joseph Byrd and Raquel, Jason Byrd, Candace Byrd, Julia Byrd, Ja-Li-Si and Ethan Gladd, Amaris Turner and Cameron Byrd;

her beloved 4-legged companion: Zoey.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and two brothers, Tommy and Alpheus Byrd.

Active Pallbearers will be Kyle Henson, Bryan Warner, Lyndon Emberton, Chris Short, Avery Short and Beau Short.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Daryl Legg, Dale Brown, Kenneth Harvell and Rev. Bo Parris.

Visitation will be 10 AM – 8 PM Thursday at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Muldrow, OK.
