Shirley Ann (Hill) Herndon

Memorial Service for Shirley Ann (Hill) Herndon, 85, formerly of Vian, Oklahoma will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 29, 2021 at Vian United Methodist Church in Vian, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on January 7, 1936 in Vian, Oklahoma to Willie (Thompson) Hill and Edward Lee Hill and passed away on October 26, 2021 in Sapulpa, Oklahoma. She was married to Jimmy Ray Herndon, Sr. on September 20, 2007. He preceded her in death on April 23, 2018. Shirley graduated from Vian High School and Northeastern College in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She was a school teacher and florist. She was a member of the Methodist Church since 1949 and loved her church very much. Shirley was also a member of the National Education Association and Oklahoma Education Association and a charter member of the Lioness Club. She was very proud of her Cherokee heritage. She loved growing flowers, arts and crafts, going to estate sales and traveling. Her favorite thing was being with her family, especially spending time with grandchildren.

Survivors are:

2 daughters, Dala Ann McLain and Toby of Laporte, MN and Darla Marie Mooring and Monty of Bixby, OK;

4 grandchildren: Whitney Hanus and Jake of Bixby, OK, Madison Jose and Ethan of Yukon, OK, Will McLain and Jorden of Tulsa, OK and Ben McLain and Katelyn of Tulsa, OK;

2 great-grandchildren: Stetson Hanus and Adelaide Hanus;

3 nieces: Robyn Needham and Bobby of Mountainburg, AR, Lisa Kirk and Rob of Tulsa, OK and Kristi Potts and Brian of Oklahoma City, OK;

1 nephew: Greg Meis and Gayle of Shreveport, LA;

other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Herndon, Sr.; her parents, Ed and Willie (Thompson) Hill; two sisters, Doris Hill Meis and Edwina Hill Blackard; and one brother, Bob Hill.
