Funeral service for Stanley E. Looper, 84 of Muldrow, Oklahoma will be at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, August 11, 2021 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Akins Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
He was born on April 20, 1937 in Leflore County, Oklahoma to Gracie (Wann) Looper and Rev. OJ Looper and passed away on August 7, 2021 in Fort Smith, Arkansas. He was married to Modell (Edwards) Looper on March 9, 1957 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She preceded him in death on January 25, 2019. Mr. Looper loved being a good community person. He served on Central School Board for 16 years, where he said the school burned and they had lots of long meetings, his hair turned white and Mr. Barbee’s hair turned loose. He also served on Sequoyah County Water Association, Flood Plain Board, New Hope Baptist Church Building Committee and Nicut Fire Department for 25 plus years. He retired from his ceiling company at the age of 77 and from the Oklahoma Corporation Commission after 20 years. He always said the he worked with and for the best people in the world.
Survivors are:
1 daughter: Chalon Johnson of Sallisaw, OK;
2 sons: Darren Looper of Scratchout Community, OK and Scott Looper and wife, Jimsie of Sallisaw, OK;
10 grandchildren: Ashley, Bailey, Calley, Amanda, Daria, Colton, Kinzie, Ashley, Heath and Grayson;
7 great grandchildren: Josh, Dude, Jesse, Chrisalin, Dax, Gracie and Jonathan;
1 sister: Nina Cole and J.B. of Sallisaw, OK;
He was preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Modell; his parents; 3 sisters: Freda Lloyd, Wilma Hale and Joyce Brown and 2 brothers: Charles Olivia and Paul Looper.
Active Pallbearers will be Duane Brown, Jeremy Johnson, David Crawford, Wayne Allen, Heath Looper, Colton Looper and Tony Renfro.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Nicut Fire Department, Jody Keith, Shelly Kantola, Hobie Jones, Hubert Horn, Kevin Harvell, Dale Sanders, Roger Sharp and Uncle Ethard Smith.
Viewing will be 10 am – 8 pm Tuesday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw where the family will greet 6 – 8 pm.
