Steve D. Blount

Steve D. Blount was born on August 26, 1957 to Coy & Ada (Real) Blount in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. He passed away on July 1, 2018 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at the age of 60. Steve was married to Rene’ Reid on August 28, 1986 in Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Steve was a hunter, wild horse racer, Oklahoma State Champion wrestler and he shared his love of sports with his boys. He helped to start the Sallisaw Youth League and was an original board member.

Steve was a proud conservative and NRA member. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church, a Gideon and former Sallisaw Jaycee.

Steve was a McKey & Sallisaw Firefighter, retiree of Bekaert Steel and Wire, cattle rancher and Director of Maintenance at Ashton Place Health & Rehab in Barling, Arkansas. But his proudest achievements were his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Rene’ Blount, son and daughter-in-law Marty & Shoana Blount, son and daughter-in-law Derrick & Haleigh Blount and son Jacob Blount, all of Sallisaw.

His grandchildren Caden, Molli, Emillie, Alex and Sloan.

His sister Janice Sanders and brother Rodney Blount, both of McKey, Oklahoma.

His mother-in-law Freddie Mae Reid.

He was preceded in death by his parents Coy & Ada Blount, brother Jay Blount and father-in-law Leroy Reid.

Pallbearers are Darren Girdner, Joe Johnson, Roy Reid, Les Reid, Glen Reid and Greg Cluck.

Honorary pallbearers are Sallisaw Black Diamond class of 1975, members of Immanuel Baptist Church and employees of Ashton Place.

Viewing will be Tuesday, July 3 from 10 am – 8 pm and the family will greet from 6 – 8 pm at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw. Funeral service will be Thursday, July 5, at 10 am at Immanuel Baptist Church in Sallisaw with graveside service to follow at Sallisaw City Cemetery under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw. The Blount Family invites friends and family to their home following services for food and celebration of Steve.
