Thomas W. Modlin, a beloved member of the Sallisaw community, passed away on February 7, 2025, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, at the age of 90. He was born on December 19, 1934, in Parsons, Kansas.
Thomas lived a life rich in family and simple pleasures. He was married to Mary Margaret Modlin, who preceded him in death on January 29, 2022. Together, they created a loving home that fostered a deep sense of family values. Thomas had a passion for outdoor activities, especially fishing, camping, and leisurely boat rides, which brought him immense joy.
As a devoted member of the Church of Christ in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, Thomas held strong ties within his church community, where he found friendship and fellowship over the years.
He is survived by his four daughters: Cathy Baze of Owasso, Oklahoma, and Shirley Baze, Pam Baze, and Tammy Baze, all of Sallisaw, Oklahoma. His legacy continues through his two sons, Michael Baze and Tommy Baze of Kansas. Thomas cherished his granddaughter, Tonya Kelley, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma, and was grateful for the support of his daughter-in-law, Regina Baze of Coffeyville, Kansas. He is also remembered by several other relatives and friends who hold fond memories of the time shared with him.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; his late wife, Mary Modlin; and two sons, Billy Joe and Jeffrey Baze. His presence in the lives of those who knew him will be sorely missed, but his spirit will continue to resonate in the hearts of his family and friends.
A viewing for Thomas W. Modlin will take place on Thursday, February 13, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, where the family will greet visitors from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A funeral service will be held in his honor on Friday, February 14, 2025, at 10:00 AM at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel, followed by burial at Akins Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Active Pallbearers will be Tonya Kelley, Don Garrett, Cana Hall, Jim Dodson, Larry Gragg, and Patrick Hanson. May he rest in peace as he is remembered for a life well-lived, surrounded by love and cherished memories.
