Virginia (Stewart) Huckelbury

Graveside Services for Virginia (Stewart) Huckelbury, 88, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, July 23, 2019 at Sallisaw City Cemetery in Sallisaw, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Virginia (Stewart) Huckelbury was born on January 1, 1931 to David Austin Stewart and Sadie Stewart. She passed on July 20, 2019 in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. She married Jesse L. Huckelbury on August 15, 1959 in Stilwell, Oklahoma and was of the Assembly of God faith. He preceded her in death on September 5, 2018.

Virginia attended Connors State College in Warner, Oklahoma and Northeastern State College in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. She went on to receive her Masters Degree in Education. Her joy in life was, her first love, Jesse Huckelbury, and teaching children. Above all, Virginia’s heart was set on Heaven and serving the Lord.

Virginia was an avid reader, she loved to study the Bible with Jesse. They both loved to share the Word of God with others.

In her teaching career, she taught in Sallisaw, Oklahoma, Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Texas. Her favorite grade to teach was 4th grade.

Virginia and Jesse returned from Texas to Sallisaw, Oklahoma in order to be near to, and care for, their parents.

Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and by two of her greatest friends in life, Rev. Freddie and Velvie Howard.

She is survived by her extended family, Tim, Sharon and Brian Randolph, and Dr. Brian, Jennifer and Luke Sheppard; two special friends, Richard and June Looper. She is also survived by a very dear friend, and wonderful caretaker, Janie McKeehen.

She will be deeply missed by her loved ones.

Active Pallbearers will be Tim Randolph, Brian Randolph, Brian Sheppard and Rich Looper.

Viewing will be 2 – 8 PM Sunday and 10 AM – 8 PM Monday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK.
