Wallace James "Pete" Bennett, 81, of Gore, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2025, in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Born on January 17, 1944, in Bakersfield, California, Wallace was the son of Thelma (Warren) Bennett and Gleason Bennett. He was married to Troylene (Mannon) Bennett.
Wallace dedicated much of his life to education, serving as a coach, principal, and ultimately retiring as the Superintendent of Gore Public Schools. In addition to his professional achievements, he honorably served in the United States Army, exemplifying a lifelong dedication to his community and country.
He is survived by his wife, Troylene Bennett; two sons, Aaron Bennett of Gore, OK, and Brandon Bennett and Lisa of Tulsa, OK; five grandchildren: Kim Thompson and Bailey, Kristina Tindall and Eric, Elizabeth Bennett, Samuel Bennett and Madelyn, and Anna Bennett; seven great-grandchildren: Jordan, Jacob, Jaxson, Hadley, Gavin, Ember, and Maddox; one brother, Charles Bennett of Gore, OK; and numerous other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers: Arnold "Red", Frederick "Bud", A.W., and Honk Bennett.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at First Baptist Church in Gore, Oklahoma, with burial to follow at Gore Cemetery. The service will be conducted under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.
Active pallbearers include Aaron Bennett, Brandon Bennett, Scott Bennett, Winfred Brown, Mike Rigney and Harlon Bennett. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Bennett, Tom Cox and Paul Eichling.
Viewing will be Noon - 8 PM Wednesday at Agent Millsap Event Center in Gore, OK where the family will greet 5 - 7 PM.
