Wanda (Truett) Edwards

Services for Wanda Edwards, 73, of Vian will be held Friday, December 14, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Landmark Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Steve Spyres officiating. Burial will follow in Garden of Memories Cemetery in Vian under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home of Sallisaw.

Mrs. Edwards was one of 13 children born to Ezekiel “Zeke” Truett and Johnnie Mae Carpenter Truett. She was born May 18, 1945 in Ralston, Okla. and passed away peacefully at home on Tues., Dec. 11, 2018.

She married Kenneth Paul Edwards on June 25, 1973 in Newkirk, Okla. She was formally employed by Dr. Bob Logan and Dr. Gary Fine, and later retired from Sequoyah Memorial Hospital as a former ER clerk and supervisor from the claims department office. She was also a former employee and longtime columnist for the Vian Tenkiller News, where she wrote “Wanda’s Corner.”

She loved celebrating the holidays and having family gatherings, her annual garage sale, shopping for antiques, crafts, and spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She also enjoyed Facebook – where she kept everyone informed of what was going on in her community and ran a Vian History Facebook page with her friend, Ron Morris. She chatted with many of her Facebook friends on a daily basis and was known to take people under her wing.

Survivors include her husband of 45 years, Kenneth of the home; her children, Clinton Cato and wife Robbie of the Box community, Jenetta Ross and husband James of Vian, Gina Cato of the Box community, Amie Cato-Remer of Vian, and Jeff Edwards and companion Lisa of Vian; 10 grandchildren, Ashley Brown, Lance Ross, Sarah Richards, Kelsey Kennedy, Ty Cato, Sydney Remer, Emilee Edwards, Chase Rector, Brandon Kennedy and Derek Kennedy; several great-grandchildren; one sister in law, Diane Truett of Vian; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Bonnie Truett, Rosie Toney, Bernice Bryant, Robert Truett, Eoline Lee, Hubert Truett, Nellie Hendrix, Leonard Truett and four infant siblings.

Pallbearers will be Roy Fair, Michael Cobb, James Ross, Dave Richards, Shawn Buster, Ty Cato, Kaden Hickelheim and Blake Hickelheim,

Honorary pallbearers will be Lance Ross, Aaron Johnson, John Smith, Brandon Kennedy, Derek Kennedy, Anthony Harris and Chris Pascale.

Viewing will be 1 – 8 pm Thursday at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, OK where the family will greet 6 – 8 pm.
