Funeral Service for Wanda Lee Girty, 86, of Vian, Oklahoma will be at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 3, 2023 at Agent Mallory Martin Chapel in Sallisaw, Oklahoma. Burial will follow at Redbird Smith Cemetery in Vian, Oklahoma under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

She was born on April 21, 1937 in Qualls Community, Oklahoma to Jennie (Sequichie) Washington and William Washington and passed away on June 29, 2023 in Vian, Oklahoma. She was married to John Edmond Girty, Sr. Wanda was a teacher for Cherokee Nation Adult Education.

Survivors are six daughters, Susan Mae Adair of Tahlequah, OK, Peggy Sue Flute and George of Vian, OK, Brenda Lee Harvell of Gans, OK, Linda Jane Girty of Vian, OK, Elizabeth Jones and Donald of Sallisaw, OK and Joan May Murphy and Gregory of Vian, OK; one son, John Edmond Girty, Jr. of Vian, OK; 18 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Rachel Girty of Tahlequah, OK; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; one granddaughter, Johnna Girty; three sisters, Emma Washington, Nora Washington and Lily Washington Waterdown; and one brother, Raymond Washington.

Active Pallbearers will be Stone Girty, Jeremiah Caves, Jacob Caves, Martin Morris, Derrick Morris, Stevie Morris, Jr., Frank Girty and Adam Fisher.

Honorary Pallbearers will be her great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be 2 – 8 PM Sunday at Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Home in Sallisaw, OK where the family will greet 6 – 8 PM.
