Wayne Scott Mason

July 26, 1940 — April 10, 2022

Cremation Service for Wayne Scott Mason, 81, of Sallisaw, Oklahoma is under the direction of Agent Mallory Martin Funeral Service, Inc.

Wayne Scott Mason’s life, enriched on many levels, ended April 10, 2022. He was 81. Wayne and his wife, Louise, purchased a second home in Sallisaw in 1988 in semi-retirement while maintaining real estate investments. Wayne prized time spent with his grandchildren. It invariably included fishing from his dock at the creek that runs through the property in Sallisaw or at Lake Cachuma in Southern California on summer trips.

Wayne was raised in Wellford, SC. He served in the US Navy with his brother, Douglas, from 1958 to 1961. Though based in San Diego, he met Louise on a blind date in La Habra and later took her to her senior prom. They married and lived in San Diego until Wayne’s service ended. They then moved to the Los Angeles area and settled in La Habra. There Wayne opened his company, Wayne Mason Realtor.

Wayne supported his community by serving on boards, coaching, and sponsoring Little League Baseball and Pop Warner Football for many years. He transformed his skills learned on repair ships, establishing a bike-repair class at Sierra Vista School, teaching children how to repair and maintain their bikes. Wayne loved cars and NASCAR. He had an MG roadster and a Corvette, but the Mustangs were his favorite.

Wayne was a devoted husband, father, and proud Pa Pa to his grandchildren, Deprise Brazel, Alexander Mason, and Andres Mason. He is survived by his wife, Louise (Hawkins) Mason, children, DeAndrea (Mason) Brazel, and Scott Mason, and grandchildren.

Wayne was predeceased by his father and mother, Troy Franklin Mason and Christine (Whitaker) Mason, his siblings Molly (Mason) Humphries, Polly (Mason) Lunny, Nancy (Mason) Lanford, Peggy Joe Mason, and Douglas Mason. He was the youngest.
