He was married to Christine (Haley) Carney on April 23, 1983 in Ft. Smith, Arkansas. Mr. Carney worked in IT Fiber Optics for AT&T. He was a Dispatcher for the Sallisaw Police Department, a U.S. Navy Veteran and of the Protestant faith.

Survivors are:

Wife: Christine Carney of the home;

3 step-sons: Joseph Stephenson, Jonathan Stephenson and Jeremi Stephenson, all of Gore, OK;

numerous grandchildren;

2 sisters: Sharon Gleason of Washington and Charlotte Brace of Michigan;

other relatives and friends.

He was preceded by his parents; and his brother, Gary Carney.
