Bill had a true zest for enjoying people and life to the fullest. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He loved to paint and studied Western Art with the same passion he played golf, fished, hunted, and showed his National Field Trial Brittany Spaniels.
You never saw a man that loved his work and the people he worked with more than he, whether in the horse racing industry or in the oil industry. He also was District Manager for Jerry Chambers Oil Productions. From 1986 – 1989, Bill worked for the Jockey Club as the Manager of Registration for Thoroughbreds in the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico. He also taught Race Track Management for OSU Extension in Oklahoma City, OK, In 1992, Bill became a Steward for the Oklahoma Horse Racing Commission and continued until his retirement. He served as Chief Steward at Blue Ribbon Downs, Will Rogers Downs, and Fair Meadows. After his retirement, he couldn’t stay away from the racetrack and worked as the Clocker at the Blue Ribbon Training Track in Sallisaw.
Bill was born in Elgin, Oklahoma to Dorothy and Gerdis (Jeff) McNutt. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Joe McNutt; and sister, Alletta Vaughn.
